About the Summer of Swimming
What’s happening in the water near you?
Just as a new summer is nearly here, so is the Summer of Swimming. A great new website launched by the Christchurch City Council, Summerofswimming.co.nz is a comprehensive guide to all things swimming this summer.
This new site provides a list of upcoming swimming and water based activities that are open to the public ranging from national swim meets and triathlons to local “Beach Blasts†and summer pool parties. Serious swimmers will find information on training programmes and links to training days for particular events whilst new parents can check on the dates of the next learn to swim programme.
Whether you’re supporting those in the water or swimming yourself, grab a towel and check out the events below to find out what’s happening in the water near you.
What are the dates?
The Summer of Swimming will cover the months October 2009 – March 2010.
The launch starts with the first of the summer pool parties and wraps up with the Canterbury Intermediate Schools Swim Sports held in late March.
It is completely free for you to be involved with.
